This evening the four of us turned off the lights, listened to Christmas music and looked at the tree. Tomorrow is my birthday and Cole has gotten very excited about it, and also very sweet. While listening to music he told me many nice things about how he feels about me. Very nice.
During this time, Cole said to me,
Dad, you are the most beautiful person in the whole world.
Thanks, honey.
And Mom is the most beautiful Mom in the whole world.
At this point I’m chuckling a little.
Dad, beautiful isn’t how your hair looks. And it isn’t in the clothes you wear.
Now I’m thinking, here comes something great about beauty being on the inside, but then he says . . .
It is how beautiful your skin looks.
Ah. Yeah. Right. Beauty is skin deep.
