The two weeks leading up to Christmas, the kids were busy in their bedrooms making gifts to put under the tree. They posted ‘Top Secret’ and “Do Not Disturb” signs on their doors, lest Rob or I should walk in and spoil the surprise. There was much secrecy and knowing looks by the kids during that time. On Christmas morning we opened up what must have been 20 or so individually wrapped gifts: cards, toys that had been refashioned, handmade pieces, even little books. They were so excited to give them to us and watch our expressions as we opened each gift. It was one of the best moments of the day.
