Cultural kitchen

Just back from a weekend at Pt Montara Lighthouse Hostel with Lena’s girl scout juniors troop. Lena and I (mom) spent the weekend there as part of a cultural kitchen program. The purpose of the program is to broaden the girls’ cultural horizons. It starts with the preparing, cooking and presenting of a meal from a particular country. The girls chose Ethiopia and made a presentation on facts about Ethiopia and its cuisine. We prepared dishes of chicken stew, lentils and yams, salad and Ethiopian bread, called Injera. It turned out really well and it was a fabulous experience. The lighthouse is right on the coast, just south of Pacifia. The weather was gorgeous and we took advantage to go down to the beach a few times.
