2012 ALDS Game 3

Cole and I went to Game 3 of the Oakland A’s versus the Detroit Tigers last night.  It was a fantastic game for the A’s in a do or die situation.  We have really gotten into the A’s this season and so it was really great to bring Cole to such an important game . . . and walk a way with a win.

Anyway, here we are before the game started:

It was great to be there with a sell out crowd.  They handed out “rally towels” before the game, and the crowd was really into it. They also shot off fireworks during the National Anthem and for each A’s player as the lineup was announced.

During the game, the crowd was very loud.  Every time there were two strikes against a Tiger —  which was quite frequently — the entire crowd stood up and made a lot of noise and waved the towels in the air.  And when something good happened, Cole and I were high-fiving the people all around us.  Good fun.

We also got to see Miguel Cabrera play . . . the first Triple Crown winner since 1967.  Fans booed all of the Tiger players — I suppose as a way to support the A’s — but I think it is kind of lame.  Especially against a guy like Cabrera who is not only a demonstrably great batter, but also seems like a pretty humble guy.

I hope the A’s continue on from this series to the ALCS, but whatever happen, Cole and I had a fantastic time last night.
